Apparent Porosity Calculation

Apparent porosity is the measure of the percentage of a total number of voids (or pores) that is left over to the total volume of the rock or any sediments. It is the ratio of volume of open pores to the exterior volume in a specimen. Apparent porosity is usually measured using evacuation method and boiling water method. Enter the weight of soaked pieces, weight of dry pieces and weight of soaked and immersed pieces to perform apparent porosity calculation

Result :

%

Example:

Calculate Apparent Porosity for weight of piece soaked is 10, weight of dry piece is 8 and weight of piece soaked and immersed is 7.

Solution:

Apparent Porosity =((10 - 8) / (10 - 7 ) )* 100
= 66.6667
