Average Velocity Calculation

Average velocity can be given as displacement or change in position divided by the time elapsed. Velocity is a vector quantity because it measures both direction and speed. It is a measure of the average value of all given velocities. Use the formula given below for average velocity calculation. Use our online average velocity calculator to calculate initial velocity, velocity for constant acceleration and average velocity.

Calculate Initial Velocity, Velocity for Constant Acceleration

m/s
m/s
m/s

Example:

Calculate average velocity (Va) for the initial velocity of 5 m/s and velocity of 8 m/s.

Solution:

Va = 1/2 (5+8)
= 6.5 m/s.
